This just happened:
The sweet and salty works so nicely here and to take this to the next level the addition of goats cheese camembert and some truffle olive oil is a hit.
- 5-6 baby figs, sliced in half lengthways
- 10-12 small basil leaves
- 4 slices prosciutto
- olive oil
- 1 round camembert
Preheat an oven to 200°C.
Simple as anything, lie a basil leaf on the open surface of each fig. Slice the prosciutto lengthways to make thin strips and wrap each fig with a strip of ham. Place your camembert on a baking dish and top with the figs and a little olive oil and salt. Put this in the oven for 10-15 minutes until the prosciutto is crispy and the cheese soft on the inside. Serve immediately, with a cracker or wedge of fresh sourdough bread if you choose.
