Shelf-Life of Food Infographic

I came across this pretty cool infographic recently that gives a nice break down of the shelf life of various foods. It is American produced but the majority of info is really useful, so keep it on your phone or PC, or print a copy to stick in your pantry. Unfortunately it does not give any info on Donkey Meat however!

2 Rules to Remember:

  1. If it doesn’t go bad, it can’t be good for you.
  2. 2-4-4; eat or refrigerate cooked foods within 2 hours, eat hot-kept cooked foods (>60°C) within 4 hours and eat refrigerated leftovers (<5°C) within 4 days.

What about onions? Do they become toxic once cut and refridgerated?

No, that is an old wives tale! They can be refrigerated chopped for a couple days, just keep them covered because they will make everything else smell and taste like onion.
